before boarding

Working on a post for the day, the week, the month...this lead up to where I find myself here: about to board the flight for Edinburgh. In order to get Something out before I fly though, just this to touch base: I woke up feeling scattered and a bit of a mess in the getting ready of the day. Not down about going at all- I'm ready and excited for that. But worried I haven't done enough, prepared enough, gotten ready 'right' enough. It's been a long and good month of tasks and preps and goodbye's (not real ones. see you later's if you will.) and visits. In the feeling of frazzle and disappointment in my perfectionistic self for not being more put together...I'm grateful that I have learned enough, grown enough in the past two years to not be surprised, or defeated by this thought process. October Newsletter Excerpt

" October is flying and I've been in Scotland for a month and a half. That first bit has been a lot of settling in and learning what the rhythm of my days and week will be. Part of that rhythm is Explorers. Explorers is Hope's after school club for ages 4-11. It's something like VBS but once weekly throughout the school year. I'm excited to build relationships with these kiddos and hope to share the love of Jesus with them. We hope to connect with their families this way as well. This year we're leveraging the explore aspect by setting our wee explorers up with "tools" to delve into storytime- a bit Ms Frizzle esque for Bible Study ;). Hope's children's ministry is where much of my focus will be and I'm glad to begin! Please pray that God would "establish the work

The God Who Provides, Promises and Protects

In the book of Genesis, Moses is reminding the Israelites in Genesis of who they are, where they came from and most importantly of who God is. Moses wrote Genesis for the Israelites as they wandered in the wilderness. They’d left Egypt by God’s hand and were waiting to enter a new land. The passage here (Gen 8:20-9:17) focuses on God, what He has done and would do within the story of the Flood. It gives us insight into God’s character. This passage comes close on the heels of the Creation narrative and the story of Eden. Humanity has fallen in the garden and depravity has overtaken the earth. This section takes place after God’s righteous judgement pours out on the earth in the form of a flood and He saves a remnant of humanity through Noah. We’re going to look at how this passage shows us God who provides, a God who promises, and a God who protects.
